Clare & Gavin

Our Story

A little bit about us both:

I (Clare) am from County Carlow and Gavin is from Co.Kildare.
We met almost 5 years ago!

Our proposal:

We got engaged on the first anniversary of our first date! Back in the same place! (Dollymount Strand)
Gavin popped the question, we were having fish and chips on the beach as we did on our first date. He had the ring hidden under the picnic blanket and as I turned around he pulled it out and got down on one knee!

Our suppliers:

My brother who is a graphic designer designed our wedding invitations and ceremony booklets.
Our wedding cake was made by myself and my Mother in Law.
Flowers were from a local florist in Co. Kildare who works from her home. (Kildare Flowers)
Our Wedding are from Fields Jewellers.
Our decor was a simple rustic style, forest green and gold were our main colours.

Our beauty parade:

Bridesmaid dresses were all from Asos, 5 colours (all autumnal)
Groomsmen had rented suits from Richie Whelan's in Naas.
Hair was by Breda Joyce and make up was by Kate Harmon make up.

Something old, something new?

I wore my Granny's engagement ring as the old/borrowed, my wedding dress was new and I had a blue ribbon hanging from a locket on my bouquet.

Our Big Day

We had our ceremony in the Poulaphoca Suite & our reception downstairs in the Russburough Suite.
We took all our photos around the grounds of the hotel. So many great locations around this hotel to get the most beautiful pictures.
We chose the vol au vent/watermelon plank for starters, vegetable soup, mago and passionfruit sorbet and then beef/hake for the main course. I myself had the vegetarian option which was a chick pea curry and it was so good! Dessert was our favourite, sticky toffee pudding! We were stuffed! Our first dance was; 'The Power of Love' by Celine Dion. I think the most memorable moment was walking up the aisle and seeing each other for the first time! Was magical!

Post Wedding celebrations:

We had a second day celebration with some of our friends who could not come to the wedding due to number restrictions. We were so happy that we decided to do this as it just made our celebrations extra special. We went the bbq style food and it was amazing! I would definitely recommend going with a second day celebration!

Why did we choose Tulfarris?

We decided to go and view Tulfarris when we got engaged. We both had never been there but had heard about this hotel. From the moment we got there, as we were driving up to the hotel, we had a lovely feeling about the place. We just loved the location and setting. The staff are outstanding and the most helpful. Nothing we asked was too much trouble. Honora helped us with so many questions we had especially in the middle of a pandemic! The food was excellent, many of our guests are still talking about how good the food was! We also rented the Manor House which made the whole experience extra special. The bridal suite is top class!
